Procedures

12
Checking oil level maintenance

⚠ Burn hazard: generator and coolant can be hot.

Tools: Paper towels or cloth

  1. Place generator or vehicle level.
  2. Run generator about 10 minutes to warm engine, then wait 3 minutes.
  3. Secure against accidental start and open casing.
  4. Pull out, clean and reinsert oil dipstick; wait 10 seconds.
  5. Read oil level at lower end of stick.
  6. Recommended level is 2/3 between MIN and MAX.
  7. Refill if below 1/3.
First filling and venting internal cooling water circuit maintenance

⚠ Risk of scalding; hot coolant can escape.

⚠ Never open vent screw while generator is running.

  1. Fill external expansion tank with coolant to max marking; open cover.
  2. Open venting screw at internal cooling water pump until bubble-free coolant escapes; close.
  3. Open venting screw at thermostat housing; close when air-free water comes out.
  4. Start generator unloaded for approx. 10 seconds and switch off.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 until no more air comes out; fill expansion tank to max.
  6. Re-ventilate 10 operating hours after first start-up if necessary.
Refilling oil maintenance

⚠ Burn hazard: generator and coolant can be hot.

Tools: Engine oil, Paper towels

  1. Check oil level.
  2. Pull out dipstick and open oil filler cap.
  3. Fill in approx. 1/2 litre oil and wait about 2 minutes.
  4. Wipe dipstick, reinsert and check level.
  5. Repeat steps if oil level is still under 2/3.
  6. Close oil filler cap and casing.
Replacing V-belt maintenance

⚠ Stop generator before checking V-belt.

Tools: 12 mm wrench

  1. Loosen upper alternator fixing screw with 12 mm wrench.
  2. Loosen lower alternator fixing screw with 12 mm wrench.
  3. Push alternator toward thermostat housing.
  4. Replace V-belt with Quad Power XPZ 862.
  5. Tension by pulling alternator back; belt should yield approx. 1 cm with thumb.
  6. Retighten upper and lower screws.
Replacing air filter main element maintenance

Tools: Screwdriver, Compressed air, Penlight

  1. Open air filter housing and remove main element with light turning movement.
  2. Clean main element by blowing out with dry compressed air max. 5 bar, or replace after 2 years at latest.
  3. Blow out filter insert in folding direction and from inside.
  4. Check filter insert with penlight for damage.
  5. Reassemble in reverse order.
Replacing engine oil and engine oil filter maintenance

⚠ Used oil is toxic; dispose properly.

⚠ Burn hazard

Tools: Open-ended wrench 17 mm, Oil filter wrench, Container, Paper towels, Oil-resistant mat

  1. Warm engine about 10 minutes, wait 3 minutes.
  2. Secure generator, open casing, prepare oil-resistant mat and container.
  3. Loosen oil filler cap.
  4. Open oil drain screw with 17 mm wrench and drain used oil.
  5. Remove used oil filter with filter wrench.
  6. Clean filter holder and oil new filter seal.
  7. Screw in new filter by hand; refit oil drain screw with new sealing.
  8. Fill engine oil; check level every 2 litres.
  9. Run engine 10 minutes, stop, check level and top up.
  10. Clean up and dispose of oil and filter properly.
Replacing fuel filter maintenance

⚠ Fuel is flammable.

  1. Clamp fuel inlet.
  2. Remove hoses from used filter.
  3. Fasten hoses to new filter; observe arrow for fuel flow direction.
  4. Check for leaks and bleed fuel system if necessary.
Replacing raw water impeller maintenance

⚠ Close raw water cock before work.

Tools: Multigrip pliers, Screwdriver, Glycerin or silicone spray, New seal

  1. Close raw water stop cock.
  2. Remove raw water pump cover screws.
  3. Pull impeller from shaft with multigrip pliers; mark position.
  4. Check impeller for damage and replace if necessary.
  5. Lubricate impeller with glycerin or non-mineral lubricant.
  6. Fit impeller to shaft and fasten cover with new seal.
Ventilating fuel system maintenance

⚠ Fuel is flammable; no open flames.

Tools: Cloth or tissue, Wrench

  1. Start fuel pump using iControl2 Prime Fuel if available.
  2. Open ventilation screw at fuel solenoid valve while pressing START.
  3. Place cloth under connection to catch fuel.
  4. Close screw when fuel runs without air bubbles, then release START.
  5. Switch panel OFF.
  6. Repeat until fuel withdraws perfectly at ventilation screw.
  7. If engine does not start, loosen injection line connecting nut and repeat; retighten after start.
Activating or deactivating autostart operation
