⚠ Wrong battery connection can cause short-circuit and fire.
⚠ Disconnect battery before working on generator.
- Install an own separate starter battery for the generator.
- Connect positive battery cable directly to starter solenoid switch.
- Connect negative battery cable underneath starter motor at engine mount.
- Install fuse and battery circuit breaker in positive cable within 300 mm of battery.
- Use 12 V starter battery for 12 V system; 24 V for 24 V system (2x12 V in series).
- Connect cables at generator first, then at battery.
Checking oil-level maintenance
⚠ Generator and coolant can be hot during and after operation.
Tools: paper towels / cloth, oil dipstick
- Place generator level.
- Run generator about 10 minutes; wait 3 minutes.
- Secure against accidental start; open casing.
- Pull oil dipstick, clean, reinsert, wait 10 seconds.
- Pull dipstick and read oil level at lower end.
- Refill if below 1/3; change oil if below MIN and 150 h or more.
First filling and ventilation of internal cooling water circuit maintenance
⚠ Risk of scalding from hot cooling water.
- Fill external expansion tank to max marking; open its cover temporarily.
- Open venting screw at internal cooling water pump until bubble-free coolant escapes; close.
- Open venting screw at thermostat housing; close when air-free water comes out.
- Start generator unloaded for approx. 10 seconds; switch off.
- Repeat until no more air comes out; fill expansion tank to max.
- Re-ventilate 10 operating hours after first start-up if necessary.
