Procedures
10Checking oil-level maintenance
⚠ Generator and coolant can be hot during and after operation.
Tools: paper towels / cloth, oil dipstick
- Place generator level.
- Run generator about 10 minutes; wait 3 minutes.
- Secure against accidental start; open casing.
- Pull oil dipstick, clean, reinsert, wait 10 seconds.
- Pull dipstick and read oil level at lower end.
- Refill if below 1/3; change oil if below MIN and 150 h or more.
First filling and ventilation of internal cooling water circuit maintenance
⚠ Risk of scalding from hot cooling water.
- Fill external expansion tank to max marking; open its cover temporarily.
- Open venting screw at internal cooling water pump until bubble-free coolant escapes; close.
- Open venting screw at thermostat housing; close when air-free water comes out.
- Start generator unloaded for approx. 10 seconds; switch off.
- Repeat until no more air comes out; fill expansion tank to max.
- Re-ventilate 10 operating hours after first start-up if necessary.
Replacement of engine oil and engine oil filter maintenance
⚠ Used oil is toxic and must be disposed properly.
Tools: open-ended wrench 17 mm, oil filter wrench, container, oil resistant mat, paper towels
- Prepare level generator, run warm, wait 3 minutes.
- Secure against start, open casing, place mat and container.
- Loosen oil filler cap.
- Open oil drain screw with 17 mm wrench and drain oil.
- Remove oil filter with filter wrench counterclockwise.
- Clean filter holder and oil new filter seal.
- Screw in new filter by hand; refit drain screw with new sealing.
- Fill engine oil, checking level every 2 litres.
- Run engine 10 minutes, stop, recheck oil level; clean up.
Replacement of fuel filter maintenance
⚠ A clogged filter causes decreased power output.
- Clamp fuel inlet.
- Remove hoses from used filter and fit to new filter.
- Observe arrow on filter housing for fuel flow direction.
- For sight glass type: unscrew housing and filter element counterclockwise.
- Screw new element into mount.
- Lubricate sight glass O-ring with heat-resistant grease (Antiseize); refit sight glass clockwise.
Replacement of the impeller maintenance
⚠ Impeller is a wearing part.
Tools: multigrip pliers
- Close raw water stop cock.
- Remove raw water pump cover screws.
- Pull impeller from shaft with multigrip pliers; mark position.
- Check impeller for damage and replace if necessary.
- Lubricate impeller with glycerin or silicone spray.
- Fit impeller on shaft in marked position.
- Fasten cover with new seal.
Replacing the V-belt at Kubota 02/03/05 series maintenance
⚠ V-belt is a wearing part; replacement interval must never exceed 250 operating hours.
Tools: wrench 12 mm
- Loosen fixing screw above alternator with 12 mm wrench.
- Loosen fixing screw below alternator.
- Push alternator toward thermostat housing.
- Replace V-belt with Quad Power XPZ 862.
- Tension by pulling back alternator; belt should yield approx. 1 cm.
- Retighten screws above and below alternator.
Ventilating the fuel system maintenance
⚠ Prevent escaping fuel running into the capsule.
Tools: spanner 10 mm, spanner 17 mm, cloth
- Switch main power OFF.
- Press and hold failure bypass switch; fuel pump must be audible.
- Open ventilation screw at fuel solenoid valve while button pressed.
- Close screw when fuel runs without air bubbles; release button.
- Start engine; if it does not start, loosen injection line connecting nut and repeat.
- Retighten washers after start; switch main switch OFF.
Activating/deactivating autostart function (iControl2) operation
⚠ Automatic start-up: generator can start automatically.
