Controller Fault Reset diagnostic

⚠ Common Fault output remains closed until faults are reset.

  1. Identify and correct the cause of the fault condition before resetting.
  2. Press and hold the Exercise and Test buttons for about 3 seconds until LEDs flash to clear faults/warnings.
Controller Reset diagnostic
  1. Press and hold both buttons for 6 seconds to reset the controller to its powerup state.
  2. Re-set the exercise time and day after resetting, since resetting clears the exerciser setting.
SPD Module Replacement repair

⚠ Hazardous voltage. Will cause severe injury or death. Must be installed and serviced by qualified electrical personnel.

⚠ Deenergize all power sources before servicing.

Tools: screwdriver

  1. Remove the ATS enclosure front panel and move the battery charger circuit breaker to OFF.
  2. Turn the generator set OFF and disconnect power to the battery charger.
  3. Disconnect the generator set starting battery, negative lead first.
  4. Move the Normal service disconnect circuit breaker to OFF.
  5. Remove the ATS enclosure inner panel.
  6. Disconnect the SPD leads from the normal source breaker, ground, neutral, and terminal block.
  7. Remove the 4 SPD mounting screws.
  8. Install the new module and tighten mounting screws to 3 Nm (26 in-lb).
  9. Connect the SPD leads per the service entrance wiring diagram.
  10. Replace the enclosure inner panel.
  11. Close the Normal and Emergency service disconnect circuit breakers.
  12. Reconnect the generator set starting battery, negative lead last.
  13. Reconnect power to the battery charger and close its breaker.
  14. Replace the ATS enclosure front panel.
  15. Put the generator set into AUTO mode.

Troubleshooting

Symptoms & remedies

SymptomCauseRemedy
Time delayNormal-to-emergency to time out.Check time delay settings. See Figure 2-2. Enough time must elapse for the time delay emergency-to-normal timer to time out.
Generator voltage is out of range or emergency source sensing circuits are malfunctioning.Check the emergency source voltage. Repair or adjust generator set if the output voltage is it is out of range, otherwise see Section 5.4.
Transfer switch operation problems.See Section 4.5, Transfer Switch Troubleshooting.
ATS fails to retransfer the load to the normal source after the normal source returns (Also see Figure 4-5)Normal source circuit breaker is open.Close circuit breakers leading from the normal source to the transfer switch.
Emergency-to-normal retransfer time delay has not timed out.Check time delay settings. See Figure 2-2. Enough time must elapse for the time delay emergency-to-normal timer to time out.
Normal source voltage levels are out of range.Check the normal source voltage. See Section 5.1.
