Procedures
12Analog Input Setup Procedure adjustment
- Select Data Window>Add Window.
- Select the Decision-Maker 550 controller and Analog Input Setup; click OK.
- Select Data Window>Setup or right-click in the window and select Setup.
- Type the analog input description and units, 20 characters maximum.
- Enter shutdown values, warning values, and time delays within the limits.
- Click OK to accept the changes or Cancel to discard them.
Digital Input Setup Procedure adjustment
- Choose Add Window>Digital Inputs.
- Select Data Window>Setup to enter the setup mode.
- Enter the description in the first column, 20 characters maximum.
- Click in the Enabled column to toggle between Yes and No.
- Enter the Inhibit and Time Delay values in seconds.
- Select the function from the drop-down list in the last column.
- Click OK to apply the changes or Cancel to discard them.
RDO Setup Procedure adjustment
- Select the Relay Driver Output data window.
- Choose Data Window>Setup or right-click on the data window and choose Setup.
- Double-click on the line for the RDO to define.
- Select the item to define as an RDO from the drop-down list.
- Click OK to apply the changes or Cancel to discard them.
Trip Point Setup Procedure adjustment
- Select the Trip Point data window.
- Select Data Window>Setup or right-click in the data window and choose Setup.
- Enter the values for the pickup and dropout settings in the boxes.
- Set over trip points higher than under trip points.
- Maintain at least a 2% difference between dropout and pickup settings.
- Click OK to apply the changes or Cancel to discard them.
APM802 Connection Procedure (RS-485 or Ethernet) installation
⚠ Hazardous voltage. Will cause severe injury or death. Disconnect all power sources before opening the enclosure.
Tools: Belden #9841 or equivalent shielded twisted-pair cable
- Disable the generator set per safety precautions.
- Turn off and disconnect power to all devices in the system.
- Connect to RS-485 connections on TB10 or to the RJ45 port labeled Ethernet 3.
- Verify that the controller is OFF.
- Reconnect the engine starting battery, negative (--) lead last.
- Reconnect power to the battery charger, if equipped.
Controller Setup Procedure (Decision-Maker 550) installation
- Go to Menu 14—Programming Mode; enter local programming mode.
- Enter the controller access code.
- Go to Menu 13—Communications.
- Select Protocol Modbus0 or Modbus1.
- Enter Yes at the Modbus Online Y/N display.
- Choose Single or Converter connection type.
- Choose RS-232 or RS-485 for the primary port.
- Enter the network address (1-246).
- Select the same baud rate for all devices.
- Choose remote, local, or off programming mode.
- Enter the controller access code.
Decision-Maker 3000 Connection Procedure installation
⚠ Accidental starting can cause severe injury or death.
- Press the OFF button on the controller.
- Disconnect the power to the battery charger, if equipped.
- Disconnect the engine starting battery(ies), negative (--) lead first.
- Turn off and disconnect power to all devices in the system.
- Connect to communication port P21.
- Verify that the controller is OFF.
- Reconnect the engine starting battery, negative (--) lead last.
- Reconnect power to the battery charger, if equipped.
Decision-Maker 3500 Connection Procedure installation
⚠ Accidental starting can cause severe injury or death.
- Press the OFF button on the controller.
- Disconnect the power to the battery charger, if equipped.
- Disconnect the engine starting battery(ies), negative (--) lead first.
- Turn off and disconnect power to all devices in the system.
- Connect to communication port on TB12 (located in the junction box).
- Verify that the controller is OFF.
- Reconnect the engine starting battery, negative (--) lead last.
- Reconnect power to the battery charger, if equipped.
Device Setup Procedure installation
Tools: Device keypad and display
- Enable the local programming mode at the device.
- Enter the menu containing the programming mode settings.
- Enter the communications settings menu on the device keypad.
- For the 550 controller, choose the KBUS protocol.
- Choose Yes for the Online setting (KBUS Online for the 550).
- Enter the connection type for your connection.
- Enter primary port, network address, system ID number, and baud rate.
- Set the programming mode for each device to the required settings.
Local Connections Setup Procedure installation
- Open the Options menu and verify Configure Mode is not checked.
- Select Screen>New Screen.
- Click the Local Connection button in the Connection Selection window.
- Click the Comm Port Setup button.
- Select the COM port (1--16) used to connect to the device.
- Enter a baud rate matching all devices at the site.
- Leave Data Bits, Parity, and Stop Bits at 8, None, and 1.
- Enter the highest network address used, or 0 if no LAN is used, then click OK.
Modbus/Ethernet Converter Setup (MCP 3000) installation
- Set IP Address 192.168.255.33.
- Set Protocol to Modbus/RTU, Master attached.
- Connect the Ethernet port on the MCP PLC to the Ethernet side of the converter.
Modem Setup Procedure installation
- Click the Modem Connections button on the Connection Selection dialog box.
- Click the Modem Setup button.
- Select the modem manufacturer from the list on the left side.
- Select the modem model from the list on the right side.
- Enter the COM port number for the modem in the Comm Port box.
- Click the OK button; the program configures the modem.
