Cummins/Onan 6CTA8.3 — Vibration Isolators Installation and Adjustment Procedure

Installation

For the Cummins/Onan 6CTA8.3, from the Cummins/Onan service manual.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan 6CTA8.3, Cummins/Onan DGBB, Cummins/Onan DGBC, Cummins/Onan DGCA, Cummins/Onan DGCB, Cummins/Onan DGCC, Cummins/Onan DGDA, Cummins/Onan DGDB, Cummins/Onan DGDK, Cummins/Onan DGEA, Cummins/Onan DGFA, Cummins/Onan DGFB

Procedure

  1. Place the vibration isolators on the genset support structure; shim/grout so isolator bases are within 0.25 in (6 mm) elevation of each other on a flat, level surface.
  2. Loosen the side snubber lock nuts so the top plate of the isolator is free to move vertically and horizontally; check alignment with base and springs.
  3. Place the genset onto the isolators, aligning the skid's mounting with the threaded isolator hole.
  4. Adjust the leveling bolts (locking nut threaded up toward bolt head) so the set is level; a nominal clearance of 0.25 in (6 mm) or greater between top plate and isolator base is desired.
  5. Adjust leveling bolts until the set is level and sufficient clearance remains.
