Adjusting the Display Backlighting adjustment
  1. Press and hold ENTER.
  2. Press the up or down arrow on the Diagnostics keypad to increase or decrease brightness.
  3. Release the ENTER button when the desired brightness is attained.
Checking Generator Drive Plate Torque maintenance

Tools: Torque wrench

  1. Disconnect the engine starting battery.
  2. Remove the generator fan guard.
  3. Torque each of the drive plate bolts to 46 ft-lbs (49 Nm).
  4. Reinstall the generator fan guard. Reconnect the battery.
Lubricating Trailer Wheel Bearings maintenance

Tools: Grease gun with standard fitting

  1. Remove the small rubber plug on the grease cap.
  2. Attach a standard grease gun fitting to the grease zerk fitting.
  3. Pump grease into the fitting until new grease is visible around the nozzle.
  4. Use only high quality grease made for wheel bearing lubrication.
  5. Wipe excess grease from the hub with a clean cloth.
  6. Replace the rubber plug when finished.
Resetting the Time to Service Reminder maintenance

⚠ An '*' on the LCD means the setpoint cannot be changed without a password. Contact Technical Support.

  1. With unit shut down, power up the controller with the Control On/Off toggle switch.
  2. Press PAGE SELECT; text list appears with cursor at Password.
  3. Press down arrow to move cursor to the Engine Protect line.
  4. Press ENTER; WrnMaintenance appears at top left.
  5. Press ENTER; current run time hours appear.
  6. Press up arrow to reset the current run time hour setting to 250.
  7. Press ENTER to save the setting.
  8. Move the CONTROL ON/I toggle switch to CONTROL OFF/O.
AUTO (Remote) Starting of the Generator operation

⚠ Verify contacts on any remote switch are OPEN before pressing AUTO.

Tools: Jumper wire, minimum 16 gauge

  1. Perform a manual start at least once to verify engine operation.
  2. If checking the remote start circuit, remove wires from the remote start terminal block.
  3. Press the AUTO button; LCD highlights AUTO.
  4. Attach a jumper wire (minimum 16 gauge) across the two remote start terminals.
  5. Engine should crank, start and run.
  6. Remove the jumper wire; engine will stop. Reconnect transfer switch wires.
  7. Close the main circuit breaker (ON/I).
  8. Secure the generator by closing and locking all access doors.
Auto Exercise Timer Setup operation

⚠ The controller must be in AUTO mode to run at the programmed time.

⚠ Use a trickle battery charger or solarizer to prevent the controller from draining the battery while in AUTO mode.

  1. Press PAGE SELECT until Password appears at top of screen.
  2. Press down arrow until Date/Time is selected and press ENTER.
  3. Press down arrow until Timer1 Repeat is selected and press ENTER.
  4. Choose the day or days the unit should run and press ENTER.
  5. Select Timer1 ON Time, adjust start time, and press ENTER.
  6. Select Timer1Duration, adjust run length, and press ENTER.
  7. Press PAGE SELECT three times to return to the main menu.
  8. Press the AUTO button to switch modes to automatic.
Auxiliary Fuel Tank Option Operation operation
  1. Shut down the unit and check the internal tank fuel level is above five percent.
  2. Attach auxiliary tank fuel lines to the AUXILIARY FUEL INLET and AUXILIARY FUEL OUTLET fittings.
  3. Open the AUXILIARY FUEL INLET and OUTLET valves inside the right front door.
Fuel Transfer Pump Option Operation operation
  1. Shut down the unit (not required if external bulk supply is already connected).
  2. Attach the external bulk fuel supply to the FUEL TRANSFER INLET fitting.
  3. Turn on the Fuel Transfer Switch.
Manual Starting of the Generator operation

⚠ CARBON MONOXIDE: USING A GENERATOR INDOORS CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES!

⚠ NEVER start the unit under load; breakers must be OFF in MANUAL mode.

Tools: Flat head screwdriver

  1. Move the CONTROL ON/OFF toggle switch to the CONTROL ON/I position.
  2. LCD indicates MAN mode and Ready; Ready/Manual LED lit.
  3. Press the green ENGINE START button; prestart countdown begins (20 seconds).
  4. Engine cranks and starts; Running screen displays.
  5. Allow the 45 second V Detect countdown to complete.
  6. Check for excessive noise, vibration, coolant, oil, or fuel leaks.
  7. Verify AC output voltage and frequency are correct (about 60 Hz no load).
  8. Switch main circuit breaker ON, then add convenience outlet loads.
Pre-Start Check List operation

⚠ This check list applies to both manual and remote starting of the generator.

  1. Read and understand ALL safety sections.
  2. Make sure the control ON/OFF toggle switch is in the OFF (O) position.
  3. Make sure the main and convenience circuit breakers are switched OFF (O).
  4. Check the generator is properly grounded to a good earthen ground.
  5. Check all electrical connections at the connection lugs are wired correctly and tight.
  6. Check the voltage selector switch is set to the desired voltage and is locked.

  1. Notify personnel using generator power that power will be turned off.
  2. Remove all loads by opening all circuit breakers (OFF/O).
  3. Let the engine run about five minutes to cool down.
  4. Push the red ENGINE STOP button.
  5. Move the CONTROL ON/OFF toggle switch to CONTROL OFF/O.
  6. For extended storage time, disconnect the battery.
Towing the Trailer operation

⚠ NEVER tow trailer using defective parts!

  1. Use the jack to raise or lower the trailer onto the hitch of the towing vehicle; lock the hitch coupling.
  2. Attach the safety chains or cables; rotate the jack into travel position and secure the locking pin.
  3. Connect trailer wiring to the tow vehicle; check stop and signal lights.
  4. Make sure all doors are closed and secure.
  5. Check for proper inflation of the trailer tires.
  6. Check the wheel lugs; tighten or replace any loose or missing.
  7. Check the weight of the trailer is equal across all tires.

Symptoms & remedies

LOW OIL PRESSURE SHUT DOWNOil pressure is less than 20 psi (138 kPa).Check the engine oil level with a dipstick. Visually inspect for oil leaks. If oil level is good, restart and verify oil pressure within five seconds. Check the oil pressure sender.
LOW COOLANT LEVEL SHUT DOWNCoolant level in the radiator is low.Allow engine to cool. Check coolant level in the radiator. Access the radiator cap by removing the access panel from the top of the enclosure.
High Coolant Temperature Shut downCheck the coolant level in the overflow jug. Restart the engine and read the coolant temperature to verify High Coolant Temperature Shut down. Stop the engine immediately if the coolant temperature is 230°F (110°C) or more. Allow the engine to cool. Add coolant to the overflow jug if it is low and then check the level of coolant in the radiator. To access the radiator cap, you must remove the access panel from the top of the enclosure directly above the radiator. Add coolant until it is 3/4” below the filler neck. Secure the radiator cap back into its original position. Check the radiator shroud and ducting for blockage and remove any foreign matter. Inspect coolant hoses, engine block and water pump for visible leaks.
Overcrank Shut downCheck the fuel level in the tank. Check for proper operation of the fuel pump. Check air filter for blockage. If the engine will not start, consult the engine operation and maintenance manual for additional information on troubleshooting starting problems.
Overspeed or Underspeed Shut downDisconnect all loads and restart the generator. Read the frequency (Hz) on the LCD display. With no loads on the generator, the frequency should read 60.0 Hz. If the frequency is above or below 60.0 Hz, the engine speed will have to be adjusted. See the engine manual for throttle adjustments on mechanically governed units and see the electronic governor manual for electronically controlled units.
