Air Cleaner Element Cleaning maintenance
⚠ Do not twist the foam filter when squeezing.
⚠ Prevent dirt from entering the air duct that leads to the carburetor.
- Clean the foam air filter in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow to dry thoroughly, or clean in non-flammable solvent and dry.
- Dip the foam air filter in clean engine oil, then squeeze out all excess oil.
- Wipe dirt from the air cleaner housing and cover using a moist rag.
Air Cleaner Service maintenance
⚠ Operating the engine without an air filter or with a damaged air filter will allow dirt to enter the engine.
- Unsnap the air cleaner cover clips and open the air cleaner cover.
- Free the hooks from the setting pins and remove the cover to the right side of the frame pipe.
- Remove the air cleaner element from the air cleaner case.
- Check the element; clean if dirty, replace if damaged.

- Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick securely.
Engine Oil Level Check maintenance
- Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and wipe it clean.
- Insert and remove the dipstick without screwing it into the filler neck; check the oil level.
- If the oil level is low, fill to the upper limit mark with recommended oil.
- Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick securely.
Sediment Cup Cleaning maintenance
⚠ Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive; stop the engine and keep heat, sparks, and flame away.
- Turn the engine switch to the OFF position.
- Turn the fuel valve lever to the OFF position; remove the sediment cup and the O-ring and discard the O-ring.
- Clean the sediment cup in nonflammable solvent and dry it thoroughly.
- Install the sediment cup and a new O-ring and tighten securely.
- Turn the fuel valve lever to the ON position and check for leaks.
Spark Arrester Service maintenance
⚠ Allow the muffler to cool before servicing the spark arrester.
⚠ Replace the spark arrester if it is damaged.
Tools: brush
- Remove the two 5 mm screws and remove the spark arrester.
