Procedures

12
First filling and ventilation of the internal cooling water circuit installation

⚠ Risk of scalding; expansion tank pressure relief valve 500 mbar.

  1. Fill external cooling water expansion tank with coolant to max marking; open cover temporarily.
  2. Start water pump using Prime Fuel option in iControl panel.
  3. Open venting screw at thermostat housing; close when air-free water comes out.
  4. Start generator; do not load; switch off after approx. 10 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 until no more air comes out; close venting screws.
  6. Run generator at idle until cooling water temperature at engine reaches 60°C; stop; fill expansion tank to max; close.
  7. Re-ventilate 10 operating hours after first start-up and if necessary.
Isolation test installation

Tools: Voltmeter

  1. Switch off all electrical load.
  2. Start generator.
  3. Measure AC voltage with voltmeter between generator housing and AC-Control box, and generator housing and ground.
  4. Measured voltage must not exceed 50 mV.
  5. Check safety systems; test RCD if installed; check phases against each other and ground.
Checking oil-level maintenance

⚠ Burn hazard; generator, coolant and engine oil can be hot.

Tools: paper towels / cloth

  1. Place generator level; with marine generators measure when ship is not lop-sided.
  2. Assure generator against accidental start.
  3. Open generator casing.
  4. Screw oil dipstick out of the check rail.
  5. Clean oil dipstick.
  6. Put dipstick back into check rail, do not screw in, wait 10 seconds.
  7. Pull dipstick out and read oil-level at lower end.
  8. Recommended oil-level 90%; refill if under 50%; under MIN check operating hours.
De-aerating the fuel system maintenance

Tools: Container

  1. Put a container under the fuel return pipe.
  2. Switch the panel ON.
  3. Activate the fuel pump prime function in the panel menu.
  4. Let pump run until fuel runs bleed-free out of return line; about three activations.
  5. Switch the panel OFF.
Exchange of the Fuel Filter maintenance
  1. Clamp inlet before exchanging the filter.
  2. Remove hoses from used filter.
  3. Fasten hoses to new filter; observe arrow direction.
  4. Check for leaks.
Refilling oil maintenance

Tools: Engine oil

  1. Check oil-level as described.
  2. Pull oil dipstick out of check rail.
  3. Open oil filler cap.
  4. Fill in approx. 0.1 litre and wait about 2 min so it can flow into oil pan.
  5. Wipe oil dipstick and put it into check rail.
  6. Pull dipstick out and check oil-level.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 if oil-level is still under 2/3.
Replacement of engine oil and engine oil filter maintenance

⚠ Burn hazard; wear personal protective equipment.

Tools: Open-ended wrench, Oil filter wrench, Container, Oil resistant mat, Paper towels and cloth

  1. Run generator until engine temperature reaches 60°C.
  2. Prepare generator: assure against start, open casing, release oil drain hose.
  3. Unscrew oil filling cap.
  4. Open oil drain screw with 17 mm wrench over container.
  5. Discharge used oil completely.
  6. Remove used oil filter by turning counterclockwise; clean oil screen.
  7. Clean filter holder and apply thin oil layer to new filter sealing.
  8. Screw in new filter by hand; refit oil drain screw with new sealing.
  9. Fill engine oil; check oil-level after every 0.75 litres.
  10. Run engine 10 minutes, stop, check oil-level again; clean up.
Replacement of the air filter maintenance
  1. Open air suction housing by turning cap about 20° anticlockwise; remove cap.
  2. Remove air filter.
  3. Clean air filter housing.
  4. Replace air filter and close cover again.
Replacement of the impeller maintenance

Tools: Multigrip pliers

  1. Close raw water stop cock.
  2. Remove cover of raw water pump by loosening wing screws.
  3. Pull impeller with multigrip pliers from shaft; mark position.
  4. Check impeller for damage and replace if necessary.
  5. Lubricate impeller with glycerin or non-mineral oil based lubricant.
  6. Attach impeller to pump shaft; observe marking.
  7. Fasten cover and use a new seal.
Activating/deactivating autostart ('Autostart') operation

⚠ Automatic start-up danger; ensure generator capsule is closed and warning signs are affixed.

  1. Select Autostart in set-up menu and confirm with Start/Stop.
  2. Select Enable or Disable with cursor buttons.
  3. Confirm with Start/Stop; message Autostart enabled/disabled appears.
  4. Settings are saved to EEPROM; controller shuts down.
Priming the fuel system ('Prime Fuel') operation
  1. In set-up menu select Prime fuel and confirm with Start/Stop.
  2. Actuate Start/Stop again; fuel pump switches on for max. 30 seconds.
  3. Fuel pump shuts off automatically; can also switch off manually.
Resetting the service interval ('Service') operation
  1. In set-up menu select Service and confirm with Start/Stop.
  2. Service information screen appears with reset instruction.
  3. Actuate Start/Stop again to reset service interval to original.
  4. Controller switches off; after restart new value is displayed.
