Applies to: Kohler 14RCA, Kohler 20RCA, Kohler CH740 (14 kW models); CH1000 (20 kW models) engine, Kohler CH 740 engine, Kohler CH1000 engine
Before you start
- Do not operate the generator set with the air cleaner removed; a sudden backfire can cause severe injury or death.
Procedure
- Press the OFF button on the generator set controller.
- Disconnect the utility power to the generator set.
- Disconnect the generator set engine starting battery, negative lead first.
- Loosen the cover retaining knob(s) and remove the cover.
- Remove the element cover nut, element cover, and the paper element.
- Do not wash the paper element or clean it with pressurized air.
- Replace the element if it is dirty, bent, or damaged.
- Check the air cleaner base and element cover; replace damaged components.
- Reinstall the paper element, element cover, nut, and cover; secure the cover.
- Reconnect the utility power to the generator set.
- Reconnect the engine starting battery, negative lead last.
Specs & values
- Replace paper element at intervals shown in the service schedule; more often under dusty/dirty conditions
