Testing the Ground Fault Sensor diagnostic
  1. Start generator and allow to warm up
  2. Press test button on ground fault sensor
  3. Fault light lights and main breaker trips
  4. If breaker doesn't trip, sensor must be repaired before operating
  5. Press reset button and reset main breaker
Changing Engine Oil - 10KPRO maintenance
  1. Stop engine and let cool
  2. Place oil pan under drain plug and oil filter
  3. Clean around oil drain plug and oil filter
  4. Remove oil filter (counterclockwise)
  5. Remove oil drain plug
  6. Allow oil to completely drain
  7. Replace oil drain plug
  8. Apply light film of oil to filter gasket
  9. Install oil filter hand-tight plus additional half turn
  10. Fill crankcase with oil
  11. Dispose of used oil properly
Checking Engine Oil - 10KPRO maintenance
  1. Operate/maintain on flat surface
  2. Stop engine if running
  3. Let engine sit and cool several minutes
  4. Clean around oil dipstick with damp rag
  5. Remove oil dipstick
  6. Check oil level between H and L lines
Inspect and Replace the Air Filter - 10KPRO maintenance
  1. Turn off generator, let cool
  2. Move to flat surface
  3. Remove 4 mounting screws from top of fuel tank
  4. Lift fuel tank, unscrew air cleaner cover knob, remove cover
  5. Remove air cleaner element (Part No. 160059)
  6. Inspect for dirt; replace if dirty (do not wash)
  7. Install element, cover, knob
  8. Install fuel tank screws
Quick Drain maintenance

⚠ Gasoline vapors extremely flammable, wipe up spills immediately

  1. Remove drain hose cap from drain hose
  2. Open quick drain valve, drain fuel into container
  3. Continue draining until clean fuel observed
  4. Close quick drain valve, install drain hose cap
  5. Dispose of collected fuel properly
Spark Plug Maintenance maintenance

Tools: 13/16 inch spark plug socket wrench, Wire feeler gauge

  1. Stop generator and let cool
  2. Remove spark plug boot by pulling straight away from engine
  3. Clean area around spark plug
  4. Remove spark plug with 13/16 inch socket wrench
  5. Inspect for cracked/chipped insulator, excessive wear, and gap 0.024-0.032 in (0.60-0.80 mm)
  6. Replace with Champion RN9YC or equivalent if any condition fails
  7. Hand-thread spark plug until bottomed out, then seat with socket wrench
  8. Replace spark plug boot ensuring full engagement
Storage maintenance
  1. Clean the generator
  2. Drain all gasoline from fuel tank
  3. Run engine until remaining gasoline consumed
  4. Close fuel shutoff valve
  5. Change the oil
  6. Remove spark plug, add ~1 tbsp oil, pull recoil to distribute
  7. Replace spark plug
  8. Move to clean, dry storage place
Programming the Generator for Remote Start operation
  1. Turn engine control switch to RUN position
  2. Push and hold program button for 3 seconds
  3. Press stop button on key fob
  4. Press start button on key fob
  5. Press and hold program button for 3 seconds until light turns off
Battery Replacement repair

⚠ Dispose of used battery per local/state guidelines

  1. Remove spark plug wire from spark plug
  2. Remove nuts on battery hold-down plate, remove plate
  3. Tip battery forward to access cables
  4. Disconnect black negative cable first
  5. Disconnect red positive cable second, remove battery
  6. Install new battery
  7. Connect red positive cable first
  8. Connect black negative cable second
  9. Install hold-down plate with nuts
  10. Install spark plug wire

Symptoms & remedies
