10Adding Oil maintenance
⚠ Do not overfill the crankcase
Tools: Funnel
- Make sure generator is on a level surface
- Unscrew the oil filler/dipstick cap
- Using a funnel, add oil until level reaches lower lip of the fill opening
- Replace the oil filler cap
Changing the Oil maintenance
⚠ Worn out or dirty oil does not cool the generator properly
Tools: 12mm hex wrench
- Unscrew the oil drain plug with a 12mm hex wrench and drain oil into approved container
- Replace drain plug and tighten with 12mm hex wrench
Cleaning the Air Filter maintenance
- Remove filter cover screw
- Remove filter cover and sponge-like element
- Wipe dirt from casing
- Wash element in dish detergent and warm water
- Pat dry with cloth
- Soak dry element in engine oil, ring out excess
- Replace elements in casing
Emptying the Gas Tank maintenance
⚠ Do not store fuel from one season to another
Tools: wrench
- Turn fuel valve to OFF
- Unscrew fuel filter cup from fuel valve using wrench
- Empty fuel filter cup of any fuel
- Turn fuel valve to ON, drain all gas into funnel/container
- Turn fuel valve to OFF
- Reinstall fuel filter cup
- Store emptied gasoline with fuel stabilizer
Spark Plug Maintenance maintenance
Tools: spark plug wrench, wire brush
- Pull spark plug cap off
- Unscrew spark plug with spark plug wrench
- Inspect for cracks/chips, discard if damaged
- Measure plug gap, should be 0.7-0.8 mm (0.028-0.031 in)
- Clean and re-gap if reusing
- Install spark plug
- Replace spark plug cap
Storing the Generator for Longer Than 30 Days maintenance
- Turn breaker OFF and run generator 3-5 minutes
- Shut fuel valve OFF and run until engine stalls
- Turn battery switch OFF
- Empty the gas tank
- Drain the carburetor via the drain bolt
- Remove spark plug, add 2 tbsp of 10W-30 oil into the spark plug hole, pull recoil to lubricate cylinder, reinstall spark plug
- Remove the battery and place on a 12V battery tender indoors
Changing / Inspecting the AVR repair
⚠ If generator is overheated or overloaded, AVR may be damaged and require replacement
- Remove 2 bolts of generator cover, pull cover off
- Remove 2 bolts holding AVR
- Disconnect wire clip
- Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
- Install new AVR with 2 bolts
- Insert and connect 2 wires from AVR to brush
- Reconnect wire clip
- Replace back cover with 2 bolts
Changing / Inspecting the Carbon Brushes repair
⚠ Inspect every 250 running hours
- Remove 2 bolts of generator cover, pull cover off
- Remove bolt holding carbon brush
- Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
- Install new carbon brush with bolt
- Insert and connect 2 wires from AVR, connect + and - correctly
- Replace back cover with 2 bolts
Changing/Inspecting the AVR repair
- Remove 2 bolts of generator cover and pull cover off
- Remove 2 bolts holding the AVR
- Disconnect wire clip
- Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
- Install new AVR with 2 bolts
- Reconnect wires to brush, observe polarity
- Reconnect wire clip
- Replace generator cover
Changing/Inspecting the Carbon Brushes repair
- Remove 2 bolts of generator cover and pull cover off
- Remove bolt holding carbon brush
- Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
- Install new carbon brush with bolt
- Connect AVR wires, observe polarity
- Replace generator cover with 2 bolts
