Adding Oil maintenance

⚠ Do not overfill the crankcase

Tools: Funnel

  1. Make sure generator is on a level surface
  2. Unscrew the oil filler/dipstick cap
  3. Using a funnel, add oil until level reaches lower lip of the fill opening
  4. Replace the oil filler cap
Changing the Oil maintenance

⚠ Worn out or dirty oil does not cool the generator properly

Tools: 12mm hex wrench

  1. Unscrew the oil drain plug with a 12mm hex wrench and drain oil into approved container
  2. Replace drain plug and tighten with 12mm hex wrench
Cleaning the Air Filter maintenance
  1. Remove filter cover screw
  2. Remove filter cover and sponge-like element
  3. Wipe dirt from casing
  4. Wash element in dish detergent and warm water
  5. Pat dry with cloth
  6. Soak dry element in engine oil, ring out excess
  7. Replace elements in casing
Emptying the Gas Tank maintenance

⚠ Do not store fuel from one season to another

Tools: wrench

  1. Turn fuel valve to OFF
  2. Unscrew fuel filter cup from fuel valve using wrench
  3. Empty fuel filter cup of any fuel
  4. Turn fuel valve to ON, drain all gas into funnel/container
  5. Turn fuel valve to OFF
  6. Reinstall fuel filter cup
  7. Store emptied gasoline with fuel stabilizer
Spark Plug Maintenance maintenance

Tools: spark plug wrench, wire brush

  1. Pull spark plug cap off
  2. Unscrew spark plug with spark plug wrench
  3. Inspect for cracks/chips, discard if damaged
  4. Measure plug gap, should be 0.7-0.8 mm (0.028-0.031 in)
  5. Clean and re-gap if reusing
  6. Install spark plug
  7. Replace spark plug cap
Storing the Generator for Longer Than 30 Days maintenance
  1. Turn breaker OFF and run generator 3-5 minutes
  2. Shut fuel valve OFF and run until engine stalls
  3. Turn battery switch OFF
  4. Empty the gas tank
  5. Drain the carburetor via the drain bolt
  6. Remove spark plug, add 2 tbsp of 10W-30 oil into the spark plug hole, pull recoil to lubricate cylinder, reinstall spark plug
  7. Remove the battery and place on a 12V battery tender indoors
Changing / Inspecting the AVR repair

⚠ If generator is overheated or overloaded, AVR may be damaged and require replacement

  1. Remove 2 bolts of generator cover, pull cover off
  2. Remove 2 bolts holding AVR
  3. Disconnect wire clip
  4. Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
  5. Install new AVR with 2 bolts
  6. Insert and connect 2 wires from AVR to brush
  7. Reconnect wire clip
  8. Replace back cover with 2 bolts
Changing / Inspecting the Carbon Brushes repair

⚠ Inspect every 250 running hours

  1. Remove 2 bolts of generator cover, pull cover off
  2. Remove bolt holding carbon brush
  3. Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
  4. Install new carbon brush with bolt
  5. Insert and connect 2 wires from AVR, connect + and - correctly
  6. Replace back cover with 2 bolts
Changing/Inspecting the AVR repair
  1. Remove 2 bolts of generator cover and pull cover off
  2. Remove 2 bolts holding the AVR
  3. Disconnect wire clip
  4. Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
  5. Install new AVR with 2 bolts
  6. Reconnect wires to brush, observe polarity
  7. Reconnect wire clip
  8. Replace generator cover
Changing/Inspecting the Carbon Brushes repair
  1. Remove 2 bolts of generator cover and pull cover off
  2. Remove bolt holding carbon brush
  3. Remove 2 wires from AVR on carbon brush
  4. Install new carbon brush with bolt
  5. Connect AVR wires, observe polarity
  6. Replace generator cover with 2 bolts
