Maintenance · Cooling system

For the Kohler 30RCL / KG2204, from the Kohler operator's manual.

Applies to: Kohler 30RCL, Kohler KG2204 / KG2204T engine

Before you start

  • Hot coolant and steam. Before removing the pressure cap, stop the engine and allow it to cool.

Procedure

  1. Open the radiator cap slowly in order to release the pressure in the system.
  2. Maintain the coolant level in the coolant overflow bottle between the High and Low markings.
  3. Periodically check the coolant level by removing the radiator pressure cap; do not rely solely on the overflow bottle.
  4. Install and tighten the radiator cap.
  5. Check coolant condition: it should be uniformly colored and transparent; replace if dirty, discolored, or fouled with oil or rust particles.
