Before you start
- Operating with loose or damaged air cleaner components can allow unfiltered air into the engine.

Procedure
- Loosen the two cover retaining knobs and remove the cover.
- Remove the paper element.
- Do not wash the paper element or use pressurized air.
- Replace a dirty, bent, or damaged element.
- Check the air cleaner base; make sure it is secured and not bent or damaged.
- Check the element cover for damage or improper fit.
- Replace all damaged air cleaner components.
- Remove loose dirt from the base carefully without dropping it into the intake throat.
- Reinstall the paper element flat and properly seated on the base.
- Install the air cleaner cover and secure with the two retaining knobs.
- Order genuine Kohler parts when element replacement is necessary.
