Before you start
- Battery acid can cause severe injury or blindness. Wear protective goggles and clothing.

Procedure
- Disconnect battery cables, negative lead first.
- Scrub battery terminals with a wire brush.
- Clean battery and cables with baking soda and water solution.
- Flush with clean water and wipe with dry, lint-free cloth.
- Reconnect battery cables, negative lead last.
- Coat terminals with petroleum jelly, silicone grease, or nonconductive grease.
