Before you start
- Wrong battery connection can cause short-circuit and fire
- First connect cables at generator, then at battery
Procedure
- Install separate starter battery for generator.
- Connect positive cable directly to solenoid switch of starter motor.
- Connect negative cable underneath starter motor at engine mount.
- Install fuse and battery circuit breaker in positive cable within 300 mm of battery.
- Protect cable with protective pipe/sleeve against chafing.
- Use self-extinguishing fire-protected cables suitable up to 90 °C.
- Make test run and check cable laying.
