Before you start
- Charged capacitors can be lethal; do not touch bare contacts.
Procedure
- Never check capacitors while generator motor is running.
- Disconnect terminal lead wires using insulated pliers or screwdriver.
- Discharge capacitors by bridging terminals with discharge reactor.
- For three-phase capacitors discharge between every phase.
- Measure capacity with multimeter set to capacitor measuring.

- Multimeter with capacitor measuring Amazon
- Discharge reactor 5-10 kOhm Amazon
- Insulated pliers/screwdriver Amazon
