Cummins/Onan QSX15 / QSx15 — Vibration Isolators Installation and Adjustment Procedure

Installation

For the Cummins/Onan QSX15 / QSx15, from the Cummins/Onan service manual.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan DFE, Cummins/Onan DFEJ, Cummins/Onan DFEK, Cummins/Onan QSx15, Cummins/Onan QSX15 engine

Procedure

  1. Place the vibration isolators on the genset support structure. Shim or grout so all isolator bases are within 0.25 inch (6 mm) elevation of each other.
  2. Loosen the side snubber lock nuts so the top plate of the isolator is free to move vertically and horizontally.
  3. Place the genset onto the isolators while aligning the skid's mounting with the threaded isolator hole.
  4. Once the genset is in position, adjust isolators so the set is level using the leveling bolt; nominal clearance of 0.25 inch (6 mm) or greater is desired.
  5. Adjust the leveling bolts until the set is level and sufficient clearance remains; lock the leveling bolt with the lock nut.
  6. The snubber nuts must remain loose to provide better isolation between the genset and support structure.
