Cummins/Onan — ASSEMBLE DRIVE DISK

For these Cummins/Onan models: MDL3, MDL4, MDL6.

Applies to: Cummins Onan Mdl3, Cummins Onan Mdl4, Cummins Onan Mdl6

Procedure

  1. Torque end bell stud nuts to 20 ft Ibs. (27 Nom).
  2. Using a lead hammertap the end bell at the horiz- ontal and vertical plane to relieve stress. Re- torque end bell stud nuts.
  3. Feed stator and control leads through opening in control box and saddle and secure saddle to the generator.
  4. Install the overspeed switch bracket assembly to the end bell.
  5. Connect all applicable control leads (Fl, F2, overspeed, battery charging, etc.) and verify that all connections are secure. 14: Install the end bell cover.
  6. Connect the stator wires to the load wires.
  7. Connect the negative (-) battery cable and test generator operation. DETAIL (SEE DETAIL B) TORQUE TO 23-26 INCH LBS (2.6-2.9 N W
