Changing Engine Oil maintenance

⚠ Never dispose of used engine oil into a sewer, ground, or waterways

  1. Stop the engine and let it cool for several minutes
  2. Remove the engine service panel to access oil fill/drain plug
  3. Place oil pan under the oil fill/drain plug
  4. Clean around the oil fill/drain plug
  5. Tilt the inverter so oil drains into the container
  6. Allow oil to completely drain
  7. Fill crankcase with oil per Adding Engine Oil procedure
  8. Dispose of used engine oil properly
Cleaning the Air Filter maintenance

⚠ Never twist or tear the foam element

  1. Turn off inverter and let cool
  2. Remove engine service panel
  3. Release tabs and tip air cleaner cover down
  4. Remove foam element from housing
  5. Wash foam element in detergent and warm water, squeezing gently
  6. Rinse in clean water
  7. Dry by slow firm squeezing
  8. Return element to housing and reinstall cover and panel
Cleaning the Spark Arrestor maintenance

Tools: Wire brush, Flathead screwdriver

  1. Stop and let cool, move to flat surface
  2. Remove four screws holding muffler cover
  3. Loosen clamp holding spark arrestor onto muffler
  4. Slide off band clamp and pull off screen
  5. Clean screen with wire brush
  6. Replace screen if ripped, torn, or worn
  7. Reinstall screen and clamp
Spark Plug Maintenance maintenance

⚠ Never apply side load when removing spark plug

Tools: Spark plug socket wrench

  1. Stop and let cool, move to flat surface
  2. Slide off spark plug access cover
  3. Pull off spark plug boot straight away from engine
  4. Clean area around spark plug
  5. Remove spark plug with provided socket wrench
  6. Inspect for cracked insulator, wear, and check gap of 0.032 in. (0.80 mm)
  7. Replace if any condition fails
  8. Install spark plug, boot, and access cover
Start the Generator operation
  1. Check fuel level indicator
  2. Set Run/Stop/Start switch to desired position
  3. Pull start handle (manual models) or activate electric start
  4. Ensure oil fill cap is accessible
  5. Adjust choke as needed

Symptoms & remedies

Try connecting a known good appliance to verify the inverter is producing electrical power.
Engine will not start or remain running while trying to start.1. Inverter is out of gasoline. 2. Fuel flow is obstructed. 3. Unit is overchoked. 4. Dirty air filter. 5. Low oil level shutdown switch is preventing the unit from starting. 6. Spark plug boot is not fully engaged with the spark plug tip. 7. Spark plug is faulty. 8. Dirty/plugged spark arrestor. 9. Stale fuel. 10. Fuel system needs priming (WH1000i)1. Add gasoline to the inverter (see page 23). 2. Inspect and clean fuel delivery passages. 3. Move the choke knob halfway between the ON and OFF positions. 4. Check and clean the air filter (see pages 29-30). 5. Check oil level and add oil if necessary (see pages 28 and 29). 6. Firmly push down on the spark plug boot to ensure the boot is fully engaged. 7. Remove and check the spark plug. Replace if faulty (see pages 31-32). 8. Check and clean the spark arrestor (see page 32). 9. Drain fuel and replace with fresh fuel. 10. Prime the fuel system (see page 24).
