Procedures

4
Coolant check (monitoring condition) diagnostic

Tools: pH-measuring device (part 2913 0029 00), Refractometer (part 2913 0028 00)

  1. Verify the coolant color visually and confirm no loose particles are floating.
  2. Check the pH value with a pH-measuring device; typical EG value is 8.6.
  3. Check glycol concentration with a refractometer; keep above 33 vol.%, not above 68 vol.%.
  4. Replace coolant if pH is below 7 or above 9.5, or if condition is outside limits.
  5. Always top up with PARCOOL EG only, never with water alone.
Measuring the alternator insulation resistance diagnostic

Tools: 500 V megger

  1. Disconnect the N-terminal from the earthing system if connected.
  2. Disconnect the AVR.
  3. Connect a 500 V megger between the earth terminal and terminal L1.
  4. Generate a voltage of 500 V and read the scale.
  5. Verify the scale indicates a resistance of at least 2 MΩ.
Replacing the coolant maintenance

⚠ Never remove the cooling system filler cap while coolant is hot; the system may be under pressure.

  1. Completely drain the entire cooling system.
  2. Dispose of used coolant per local regulations.
  3. Flush twice with clean water.
  4. Determine the required amount of PARCOOL EG and pour into the radiator top tank.
  5. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached to release trapped air, then turn off and let cool.
  6. Recheck coolant level and add if necessary.
Preparing for operation after storage operation
  1. Remove the wrapping, VCI paper and silica gel bags.
  2. Go through the 'Before starting' checklist.
  3. Consult the engine's operator manual.
  4. Check that the insulation resistance of the generator exceeds 2 MΩ.
  5. Replace the fuel filter and fill the fuel tank; vent the fuel system.
  6. Reinstall and connect the battery, recharged if necessary.
  7. Submit the generator to a test run.
