Before you start

  • Coupling damage or wrong injection timing can be caused by improper tightening of bolts.

Procedure

  1. Turn crankshaft in normal direction to align timing mark "1 6" on viscous damper with pointer.
  2. Confirm No. 1 cylinder inlet and exhaust valve rocker arms are not pushed up by push rods.
  3. Turn crankshaft about 60° in reverse, then forward to align timing mark with pointer.
  4. Install coupling to injection pump and align pointer (1) on pump case with mark (2) on coupling.
  5. Connect pump drive coupling to drive shaft and loosen coupling mounting bolts.
  6. Put pump case on bracket and tighten mounting bolts temporarily.
  7. Connect fuel pipe and oil pipe to injection pump.
  8. Use injection coupling gauge (A) side marked "GO" to determine clearance and tighten bolts to specified torque.
  9. Tighten pump mounting bolt firmly; ensure coupling mark B aligns with pump case pointer A.
  10. Tighten shaft tightening bolt of coupling to specified torque.
