Before you start

  • The engine must not be started until the system has been completely filled with coolant.
  • Do not open the pressure cap on a hot engine.

Procedure

  1. Fill the system with the engine stopped and cold, through the expansion tank opening.
  2. Fill at approximately 10–15 l/min so the system is vented during filling.
  3. Fill until completely full, including the expansion tank.
  4. Ensure the coolant level is between the MIN and MAX levels.
  5. Open valves in external systems and vent the units during filling.
  6. Start the engine and let it run without load at 1000–1500 rpm for about 5 minutes; check the coolant level.

Specs & values

  • Coolant system volume: D4 12.5 L, D6 15.7 L
