Before you start

  • Do not use the elasticity of the rubber mountings to compensate for an inclined bed.

Procedure

  1. Align the hull horizontally so calculated water lines are parallel with the horizontal plane.
  2. Build up the engine bed with spacer material so the underside of the engine mountings almost rests against the bed.
  3. Build in a galvanized flat bar 10–12 mm thick, min length 250 mm and min width 80 mm.
  4. Build in drain channels to allow water to drain to the bilge pump.
  5. Make sure the space for the flywheel housing and sump has a clearance of at least 20 mm.
  6. Fill the engine bed with high density material to reduce noise and vibration.
  7. Align the engine with the propeller shaft and mark up the engine mounting holes.
  8. Drill and tap holes in the bed and flat bars.

Specs & values

  • Recommended bolt diameter D4/D6 flexible mountings: M12 or 1/2" UNC
  • Engine bed min. width: 112 mm (4.4")
