Before you start

  • Do not use aerosol types of starting aids such as ether.

Procedure

  1. If equipped, move throttle lever to full throttle position.
  2. Turn engine start switch to HEAT for 6 seconds until glow plug indicator light illuminates.
  3. While glow plug indicator light is illuminated, turn switch to START and crank engine.
  4. When engine starts, release the engine start switch key.
  5. If engine does not start, release switch, allow starting motor to cool, repeat steps.
  6. Allow engine to idle three to five minutes until water temperature indicator begins to rise.
  7. Operate engine at low load until all systems reach operating temperature.
  8. Turn engine start switch to OFF position in order to stop engine.
