Before you start
- Use protective clothing and open the filler cap carefully when the engine is warm to prevent burns.
- Battery switch must always be kept ON while the engine is running or the charging alternator could be damaged.
Procedure
- Check water level at expansion tank; about 1 in. (2.5 cm) below filler cap sealing surface when cold.
- Check crankcase oil level with dipstick; keep between high and low marks.
- Check fuel tank level and open fuel valves at tank and secondary fuel filter.
- Close sea-cock, check and clean sea strainer, reopen sea-cock.
- Marine sets: place battery switch in ON position.
