Before you start

  • Wear safety glasses when removing or installing force fitted parts.

Procedure

  1. Place trailer on jack stands on secure level ground.
  2. Check the wheel and drum for free rotation.
  3. Remove adjusting hole cover from the adjusting slot at bottom of backing plate.
  4. Rotate the star wheel of the adjuster to expand the brake shoes.
  5. Adjust until lining pressed against drum makes wheel difficult to turn.
  6. Rotate star wheel opposite direction until wheel rotates freely with slight lining drag.
  7. Replace adjusting hole cover and lower trailer to ground; repeat on remaining brakes.
