Kohler — Install Terminating Resistor(s)

Installation · CAN network

From a Kohler service manual covering: 11-20.5EFKOZD, 175EFOZDJ, 35EFKOZD, 450EFOZCS. Check it applies to your exact model before use.

Applies to: Kohler 175EFOZDJ, Kohler 35EFKOZD, Kohler 450EFOZCS

Procedure

  1. Check CAN+ and CAN- at the terminal strip in the junction box for 120 ohms on the controller with controller powered down.
  2. If measuring 120 ohms, a terminating resistor already exists in the controller and no second resistor is needed at the controller.
  3. Place one 120 ohm terminating resistor at the furthest end from the controller.
  4. If using multiple extension harnesses, remove all other terminating resistors from the extension harnesses by disconnecting the cap.
  5. Place one 120 ohm terminating resistor at the controller end of the harness unless the controller has a built-in resistor.
  6. After everything is connected, verify 60 ohms on CAN+ and CAN-.

Specs & values
