Before you start
- Keep crankcase sealant out of oil passages and holes. Sealant left in oil passages will prohibit adequate lubrication, resulting in engine failure.
Procedure
- Prepare the sealing surfaces of the crankcase halves as directed by the sealant manufacturer. Do not scrape the sealing surface.
- Apply a 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) diameter sealant bead to the #2 crankcase half.
- Follow sealant manufacturer's instructions regarding setting.
- Install camshaft bore plug before placing the crankcase halves together (Series II engines).
- Install the fasteners and torque numbers 1 thru 6 in the sequence shown to a preliminary value of approximately 100 in. lbs.
