Before you start
- Minimum 8 feet clearance from exhaust end
- Verify state and local codes for installation distance requirements
Procedure
- Position exhaust aimed away from or parallel to structure
- Do not direct exhaust at play areas or gathering spaces
- Maintain minimum 5 feet distance from windows, vents, doors or openings
- Install minimum 18 inches from structure per NFPA 37
- Close windows and doors on adjacent walls
- Keep furnace and intakes at least 10 feet from exhaust end
- Provide 4 inch thick concrete pad extending 6 inches beyond genset
- Maintain clear area with no combustibles within 8 feet of exhaust
- Keep sensitive plants and patio furniture at least 8 feet from exhaust
