Kohler 2000ROZD — Paralleling Procedure

Operation · Manual paralleling controller

For the Kohler 2000ROZD, from the Kohler operator's manual.

Applies to: Kohler 2000ROZD

Before you start

  • Do not parallel two or more generator sets without load; reverse power can shut down one of the sets.
  • If the load is less than 10% of the full-load rating of the first set, shut down the additional generator sets.

Procedure

  1. Start the first generator set as described in Local Starting.
  2. When the generator set reaches rated voltage and frequency, close the circuit breaker to the load.
  3. When the load is approximately 80% of the maximum rated load for the first set, start an additional generator set.
  4. When the incoming set reaches rated voltage and frequency, place the sync-light switch in the ON position.
  5. Use the speed potentiometer to adjust the incoming set frequency until the sync-lights darken from brightest to fully dark in a minimum of 20 seconds.
  6. After the sync-lights are dark for a minimum of 2 seconds, close the incoming generator set circuit breaker.
  7. Observe the wattmeters and adjust the speed potentiometer of the second set to share the load proportionally with the first set.

Specs & values

  • Sync-lights bright to dark in a minimum of 20 seconds; dark for a minimum of 2 seconds before closing the breaker
