Before you start
- Operating the engine with loose or damaged air cleaner components could allow unfiltered air into the engine.

Procedure
- Place the master switch in OFF/RESET, disconnect battery charger power and the battery (negative lead first).
- Loosen the cover retaining knob and remove the cover; remove the precleaner from the paper element.
- Wash the precleaner in warm water with detergent and rinse thoroughly until all detergent is gone.
- Squeeze out excess water (do not wring) and allow to air dry.
- Saturate the precleaner with new engine oil and squeeze out all excess oil.
- Reinstall the precleaner over the paper element and reinstall the air cleaner cover.
- Reconnect the battery charger power and the battery (negative lead last).
