Procedure

1. Secure armature drive disks to rotor assembly with eight screws; tighten to 28 ft. lbs. (338 in. lbs.) in sequence shown.
2. Position rotor assembly on engine flywheel; secure with eight screws tightened to 14 ft. lbs. (168 in. lbs.).
3. Slide cooling fan over rotor with blades facing flywheel; coat screw threads with Locktite #271; secure with eight screws and four spacers.
4. Reposition stator over rotor assembly onto the adapter lip.
5. Position end bracket over open end of stator; drive rim into stator housing with a rubber hammer.
6. Install overbolts to secure end bracket and stator; tighten to 25 ft. lbs. (300 in. lbs.).
7. Raise alternator end, remove wood block, then lower generator onto vibromounts; install two stator mounting bolts.
8. Install a new O-ring in the groove of the end bracket.
9. Place exciter armature on rotor shaft; install flat washer and screw; tighten to 35 ft lbs.
10. Route two main field leads through exciter armature; connect to '+' and '--' terminals; connect three exciter armature leads to terminals A, B, C.
11. Slide diode assembly onto exciter armature; secure with three spacers and self-tapping screws.
12. Secure exciter field to end bracket with four screws; tighten to 70 in. lbs.
13. Install end bracket panel with six self-tapping screws; place junction box atop generator and secure with four screws.
14. Reconnect P6 to J6, P7 to J7, and P8 to J8.
15. Place controller atop rubber bumpers; reconnect leads, tighten four nuts, connect 22-pin connector, reinstall cover with nine screws.
