Before you start
- Oil level must be checked daily; low oil can damage bearings.
Procedure
- Check engine oil level; ideal level is 2/3 of maximum.
- Check cooling water level in external expansion tank; keep expansion space.
- Open sea cock for cooling water intake.
- Check and clean raw water filter.
- Check all hose connections and hose clamps for leakage.
- Check all electrical lead terminal contacts are firm.
- Check motor and generator mounting screws are tight.
- Switch land electricity/generator switch to zero or switch off all load.
- Check automatic controls and oil pressure; generator should switch off when monitoring cable is removed.
