Cummins/Onan — Vibration Isolators Installation and Adjustment Procedure

Installation

From a Cummins/Onan service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan DQKB, Cummins/Onan DQKC, Cummins/Onan QSK60 engine

Procedure

  1. Place the vibration isolators on the genset support structure.
  2. Shim or grout so all isolator bases are within 0.25 inch (6 mm) elevation of each other.
  3. Loosen side snubber lock nuts so top plate moves vertically and horizontally.
  4. Place genset onto isolators, aligning skid mounting with threaded isolator hole.
  5. Insert leveling bolt through skid into isolator to adjust clearance.
  6. Adjust leveling bolt to obtain 0.25 inch (6 mm) or greater clearance.
  7. Adjust leveling bolts until set is level with roughly equal clearance on all isolators.
  8. Lock leveling bolt in place with lock nut.
  9. Leave snubber nuts loose to provide better isolation.
