Before you start
- Inhalation of exhaust gas can result in severe personal injury or death. Do not operate in poorly ventilated areas.
- Generator sets present the hazard of electrical shock. Never expose the set to rain, snow, or similar wet conditions.
- The muffler becomes very hot and can cause severe burns.
- The voltage surge at start-up can damage appliances; always disconnect all loads before starting.
Procedure
- Open the fuel valve. On 4.0 kW sets and below, set the speed control lever to the high speed 'H' position.
- Set the choke lever to the CLOSE position. If the engine is warm from previous operation, do not close the choke.
- On models with Idlematic switch (3.5 kW and above), place the switch in the OFF position before starting.
- Press the Start/On/Stop switch to the START position; release when the engine starts, it returns to On.
- Gradually open the choke as the engine warms. Let the engine warm three to five minutes before applying load.
- If the oil watch lamp flashes or the engine starts and shuts off, stop the engine and check the oil level.
