Before you start
- Do not immerse overrunning clutch in cleaning solvent.
Procedure
- Clean parts with dry cloth and compressed air; do not immerse bearing-equipped parts or overrunning clutch.
- Apply 20 weight non-detergent oil to armature shaft and splines.
- Apply grease sparingly to shift lever pin, plunger, and spacing washers.
- Insert pinion stopper into armature shaft, install ring in groove.
- Use spacing washers to set armature end play .004 to .020 in.
- Tighten thru bolts to 35 to 44 in-lbs.
- Insert shift lever into front bracket.
