Before you start
- Mechanical overtightening can distort threads or damage filter head.
- Do not remove pressure cap from a hot engine.
Procedure
- Apply thin film of clean engine oil to coolant filter gasket sealing surface.
- Tighten coolant filter 1/2 to 3/4 turn after initial gasket contact, or as specified by manufacturer.
- Install radiator pressure cap.
- Operate engine until coolant temperature is above 82°C [180°F] and check for leaks.
- After air purged, check coolant level again.
