Cummins/Onan — Governor Sensitivity and Droop Adjustment

For these Cummins/Onan models: MCE 4.5, MCE 5.0, MCE 6.5.

Before you start

  • Disconnect load and readjust governor speed as necessary
  • If set hunts, increase droop to maximum

Procedure

  1. 5. Also check governor response under 1/4, 1/2 and
  2. 6. Push the adjustment limiter cap on over the mixture
  3. 3. Connect rated load. Note that output voltage falls

  • 62-63 Hertz frequency
  • 51.5-52.5 Hertz
  • 2 Hertz
  • 4 Hertz maximum droop
  • 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 rated loads
