Cummins/Onan — Air Cleaner Element (Paper Type) - Maintenance Check

Maintenance

From a Cummins/Onan owner's manual covering: M11, M1i Series Engines, ps200da. Check it applies to your exact model before use.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan M11 engine

Before you start

  • Pull the cover and the element straight out when removing them from the housing to avoid damage to the element.
  • Holes, loose end seals, dented sealing surfaces, and other forms of damage render the cleaner inoperative and require immediate element replacement.

Procedure

  1. Remove the wing nut that secures the bottom cover to the cleaner housing and remove the cover.
  2. Pull the element down from the center bolt.
  3. Remove the gasket from the outlet end of the housing.
  4. Clean the paper element with compressed air approximately 207 kPa [30 psi], not holding the air jet too close.
  5. Check the restriction after cleaning; replace the element if necessary.
  6. Install the element in the reverse order of removal.

Specs & values

  • Compressed air cleaning pressure approximately 207 kPa [30 psi]
  • Maximum intake air restriction: 635 mm H2O [25 in H2O]
