Operation

For the Cummins/Onan A052J727, from the Cummins/Onan operator's manual.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan MDKD

Before you start

  • Excessive cranking can burn out the starter or flood the engine (exhaust flow during cranking is too low to expel water from a wet exhaust system).

Procedure

  1. Visually check for water, coolant, fuel, and exhaust leaks.
  2. Push and hold start on control switch or digital display until the set starts.
  3. Let engine warm up two minutes before connecting large loads or engaging PTO.
  4. Monitor generator set status using the digital display.
  5. If start fails, cranking discontinues in 20 to 60 seconds; Fault Code No. 4 shown.
  6. If the set shuts down, note the numeric fault code and refer to troubleshooting.
