Cummins/Onan 4.0BGEFA261 OOL / 4.0BGEFA26100L — Returning the Genset to Service

Maintenance

For the Cummins/Onan 4.0BGEFA261 OOL / 4.0BGEFA26100L, from the Cummins/Onan operator's manual.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan EM (SN5782U1G2RA) engine

Procedure

  1. Check the oil tag on the genset and change the oil if the viscosity is not appropriate for expected temperatures.
  2. Reconnect the starting battery (negative [-] cable last).
  3. Remove the plug from the exhaust tailpipe.
  4. Open the fuel supply valve (if so equipped).
  5. Inspect the genset per Oil Level Check and General Inspection.
  6. Start the genset at the genset control panel; initial startup may be slow with smoke and rough operation until fogging oil burns off.
  7. If the engine does not start, clean or replace the spark plugs as they may have been fouled by the fogger.
  8. Push the genset line circuit breaker ON when the genset is ready to power appliances.
