Before you start

  • Never run the engine without an air cleaner element installed.
  • Never service the air cleaner element with the engine running.

Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner cover (1) and remove the element (2).
  2. Seal the turbocharger air inlet (3) so that debris cannot enter; use tape or a clean cloth.
  3. Clean the inside of the air cleaner cover and the body that holds the air cleaner element.
  4. Inspect the replacement element for damage, dirt, and debris.
  5. Remove the seal from the opening of the turbocharger inlet.
  6. Install a clean, undamaged element.
  7. Install the air cleaner cover (1).
  8. Reset the service indicator.
