Before you start
- Failure to replace your water temperature regulator on a regularly scheduled basis could cause severe engine damage.
Procedure
- Replace the water temperature regulator before it fails as preventive maintenance.
- An incorrectly installed regulator may cause engine overheating and cylinder head damage.
- Ensure the new regulator is installed in the original position and the vent hole is open.
- Do not use liquid gasket material on the gasket or cylinder head surface.
- If only the water temperature regulators are replaced, drain coolant to a level below the regulator housing.
- Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual for 'Water Temperature Regulators - Remove' and 'Install'.
