Caterpillar 3054C — Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace

Before you start
- Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system.
- Do not use a tool to tighten the filter bowl.
Procedure
- Close the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped) and place a tray under the fuel filter.
- Clean the outside of the fuel filter assembly; open the fuel drain and drain fuel into a container.
- Remove the filter bowl from the filter head; press on the element and rotate counterclockwise to release it.
- Remove the O ring, clean the filter bowl, and check that the threads are not damaged.
- Install a new O ring seal to the filter bowl.
- Install a new filter element and rotate clockwise to lock it into the bowl.
- Install the filter bowl into the top of the filter head.
- Tighten the filter bowl by hand until it contacts the filter head, then rotate 90 degrees.
- Open the valves for the fuel lines and prime the fuel system.
