Procedure

1. Observe the service indicator; clean or replace the element when the yellow diaphragm enters the red zone.
2. Also service when the red piston locks in the visible position.
3. Check for ease of resetting; the indicator should reset in less than three pushes.
4. Check the movement of the yellow core when the engine is accelerated to rated speed.
5. Replace the service indicator if it does not reset or if the yellow core does not latch.
6. Tighten the service indicator to a torque of 2 N·m (18 lb in).
