Before you start

  • Do not force the needle valve or idle screw against its seat or you will damage both

Procedure

  1. Completely close needle valve by turning clockwise as far as possible; do not screw up too tight or use force
  2. From closed position open needle valve one to one and one-quarter turns
  3. After the engine has started and warmed up make a final adjustment with the choke wide open, turning the needle valve to the point where the engine operates most smoothly with full load
  4. If the choke must be kept partially closed several minutes, the setting is too lean; open the needle valve a notch or two (turn to left)
  5. Idle adjustment screw setting is about a half to three-quarters of a turn open
  6. Throttle lever adjustment screw is set at the factory to permit an idling speed of about 1,200 R.P.M.

Specs & values

  • Idling speed about 1,200 R.P.M.
