Before you start

  • Do not insert a screwdriver into the magnetic pickup hole - threads can be damaged
  • Do not use the generator cooling fan to rotate the engine/generator

Procedure

  1. Disconnect battery from generator set; remove old magnetic pickup sensor.
  2. Center a flywheel gear ring tooth in the pickup hole; rotate engine via crank pulley.
  3. Measure distance d from tooth top to outside of flywheel housing.
  4. Set jam nut slightly beyond d (d+) so pickup fully threads into housing.
  5. Thread magnetic pickup into flywheel housing until it bottoms on tooth.
  6. Back pickup out 1/2 turn and tighten jam nut to flywheel housing.
  7. Verify proper operation (1.3 VAC while cranking).
