Procedures

Adjust ring latch grip adjustment

Tools: 13mm wrench or socket

  1. Note interference or reason why latch pawl will not engage pawl slot.
  2. If pawl hits slot bracket or shelf, move it to allow pawl to rotate inside slot.
  3. Latch pawl should operate within slot freely when latch handle rotates on removal.
  4. With latch in closed position and pawl pointing toward slot, loosen bottom nut.
  5. Turn top nut to change position of pawl, then re-tighten bottom nut.
  6. Ensure nut is fully tight before operating latch.
  7. Ideal latch condition: pawl swings into position on closing, pulls up and engages top of slot with increasing resistance.
  8. When latch ring is fully depressed, there should be firm compression of panel perimeter seal.
  9. If a corner of top panel can be lifted and a space seen, latch is not tight enough.
Valve Clearances adjustment
  1. Adjust valve clearance after 1000 hours or as needed; engine must be cold and NOT running.
  2. Turn engine by hand until inlet starts to open and exhaust starts to close (valves rocking).
  3. Turn crankshaft one more full turn; align top mark of crank pulley with top mark of timing gear case.
  4. Loosen lock nut; adjust clearance between rocker arm and valve guide with adjustment screw.
  5. Set both intake and exhaust valves to 0.008 in. (0.2 mm).
  6. Repeat for each cylinder; adjust each set individually.
  7. Replace rocker arm cover; tighten cover nuts to 5 - 8 ft/lbs (0.8 - 2.3 kg/m).
Glow Plugs diagnostic

Tools: DC test bulb

  1. Loosen current-carrying flat wire between plus-poles of glow plugs.
  2. Connect DC test bulb between plus-pole of battery and plus-pole of glow plug.
  3. If bulb lights, glow plug is functioning properly.
  4. Check all glow plugs and replace faulty ones.
Connect exhaust, seawater, fuel, DC, battery, and AC leads installation
  1. Connect the genset's 2 in OD exhaust elbow to the exhaust system of the vessel.
  2. Push a 3/4 in ID hose from the vessel's sea water strainer through lower left hole to sea water pump inlet fitting.
  3. Connect vessel fuel lines using Coast Guard approved rubber fuel hose to fuel manifold through bottom right hole.
  4. Both inlet and return line fittings are 1/4 in NPT.
  5. Connect DC control harness to engine harness plug and pass through top right hole.
  6. Pass two battery leads through middle left hole and connect to generator set.
  7. Pass AC output leads from generator junction box through middle right hole and connect to vessel power distribution panel.
Install bottom valence panels installation
  1. Install right side bottom valence panel assembly (item #2); right side valence has 2x 10-32 caged nuts installed.
  2. Install left side bottom valence panel assembly (item #3).
  3. Install front lower valence panel assembly (item #4).
  4. Align holes to locking pins and push firmly until it snaps together.
  5. Align holes on top of front valence tabs with tapped holes on top of base frame.
  6. Secure both tabs to base using 2 each M8 flat washer, M8 lockwasher, and M8 capscrew (items #14, #15, #16).
Install front panel assembly installation
  1. Position front panel assembly (item #8) as shown.
  2. Hand tighten captive thumbscrews to engage and secure front panel to left side panel and front lower valence.
Install leak alarm light installation

⚠ Leak alarm light will not operate if polarity is switched.

  1. Customer must install leak alarm light before installing this panel to the enclosure assembly.
  2. Unscrew retainer nut, insert light through front of panel, and thread retainer nut from sound foam side until firmly hand tight.
  3. Orient positive (+) polarity on top.
  4. Light component appearance may vary; polarity observation still applies.
Install non-service side panel assembly installation
  1. Position non-service side panel assembly (item #5) on left side.
  2. Align captive thumbscrew at top of rear panel to rivet nut in top corner face of side panel.
  3. From inside shield, rotate screw rod actuator wheel clockwise to engage side panel to base panel.
Install rear panel assembly installation
  1. Install rear panel assembly (item #1) to rear of base frame.
  2. Align mounting tabs to tapped holes on top of the base frame.
  3. Secure rear panel assembly to base frame using 2 M8 capscrews, M8 lockwashers, and M8 flatwashers.
  4. Install snorkel receiver seal (item #11) to rear panel to close gap at snorkel box/generator end bell clearance.
  5. Ensure seal is fully adhered to rear panel.
  6. Feed engine air intake snorkel hose onto rear panel snorkel connector.
  7. Push hose to advance until fully engaged.
  8. Loosen retainer clamp to allow hose more slack to slip through; retighten as required.
Install seal bar assembly installation
  1. Install seal bar assembly (item #9) to captive nut receptacles located at front panel and service side aft panel flanges.
  2. Hand tighten thumbscrews from interior space of the shield.
Install service side aft panel assembly installation

Tools: hand tools

  1. After complete connection of shield wire harness assembly (item #12), install service side aft panel assembly (item #6).
  2. Align captive screws to corresponding caged nuts within lower side valence and rear panel flanges.
  3. Tighten using hand tools only.
Install service side panel assembly installation

Tools: 13mm wrench or socket

  1. Install service side panel assembly (item #7) into locator pin receptacles.
  2. Secure with ring latch.
  3. Panel latch is pre-adjusted at factory.
  4. Additional pawl adjustment requires a 13mm wrench or socket.
