• Starter will crank engine, but engine will not start
  Cause: Fuel tank empty
  Fix: Refuel
• Engine lacks power
  Cause: Incorrect grade of oil
  Fix: Use recommended type and SAE number of oil.
• Starter will not crank engine or cranks slowly, resulting in a failure of engine to start
  Cause: Battery-starter switch circuit open
  Fix: Repair or replace
• High fuel consumption
  Cause: Injection pump defective
  Fix: Readjust or replace.
• White or blue exhaust smoke
  Cause: Too much oil in crankcase
  Fix: Fill only to correct level on gauge.
• Low oil pressure (Oil pressure alarm lamp glows)
  Cause: Lack of oil
  Fix: Refill up to level.
• Engine overheats
  Cause: Fan belt loose
  Fix: Readjust.
• Black or gray exhaust smoke
  Cause: Wrong type of fuel
  Fix: Refill with correct type of fuel
• High oil consumption
  Cause: Too high oil level in crankcase
  Fix: Maintain oil level between marks on gauge.
• Starter will not crank engine (air-motor starting)
  Cause: Air pressure low
  Fix: Run air compressor to increase air pressure
• Engine will not crank (direct-air starting)
  Cause: Air pressure low
  Fix: Run air compressor to increase air pressure
• Starter will run, but starter pinion will not engage with flywheel ring gear
  Cause: Ring gear or pinion defective
  Fix: Consult Mitsubishi dealer
• Starter pinion engages with ring gear, but starter will not crank engine
  Cause: Air pressure low
  Fix: Run air compressor to increase air pressure
